Eligibility

  • Hold an employment contract or mission letter from a company registered in Cambodia.
  • Practise a technical or specialised profession (engineering, medicine, IT, higher education, industrial training…).
  • Passport valid ≥ 6 months.

How to get the ET visa

  1. Negotiate and sign an employment contract with the Cambodian employer.
  2. The employer provides a sponsorship letter for the ET visa.
  3. Enter Cambodia on a T visa or e-Visa, or apply for the ET directly at the embassy before departure.
  4. Use a visa agent or go to immigration with the complete file.
  5. Submit the application for the ET visa and simultaneously for the work permit (MoLVT).
  6. Collect the ET visa + work permit within 7–15 days.

FAQ

What is the difference between ET and EB?

The EB is flexible — no employment proof needed. The ET is specific to technicians with a Cambodian employer. Many technicians use EB for convenience.

No. The ET visa authorises residence; a separate MoLVT work permit is always required to work. The two procedures are complementary.

Which professions qualify as ‘technician’?

Engineers, doctors, lecturers, IT specialists, specialised consultants… The list is not exhaustive — immigration decides case by case based on the file.

Must my employer sponsor the application?

Yes — the ET requires a work contract or mission letter from a registered Cambodian company.
