Extension / Special cases
Switching from EB to ER: If you currently hold an EB visa and turn 55, you can switch to the ER at your next renewal. Tell your agent.
Return after a trip abroad: If your ER expires while you are travelling, return on an e-Visa or VOA, then renew the ER in-country within the deadlines.
Common pitfalls
FAQ
Can the ER visa be renewed from abroad?
No. Renewal must be done in Cambodia, in person or through an agent based there.
Is a bank deposit required to renew the ER visa?
The law provides for financial conditions, but in practice many agents process renewals without formal checks. This may change — ask a current agent.
Does the ER visa allow working?
No. A separate work permit is required for any paid activity.
What happens if my ER expires during a trip?
You fall into overstay at USD 10/day. Return to Cambodia on a valid entry visa and renew the ER in-country.
