What is an overstay?
An overstay begins the day after your visa’s “Stay Until” date. If your stamp says “Stay Until: 15 JUN 2026”, you must leave Cambodia or renew by 15 June. From 16 June, you are in overstay.

Procedure for a short overstay
- Prepare USD cash (number of days × USD 10).
- Go to the airport or land border as normal.
- At the immigration desk on departure, present your passport.
- Pay the fine in cash and receive your exit stamp.
- You may return to Cambodia with a new valid visa.
Procedure for a long overstay (months)
Do not attempt to exit directly. Instead:
- Consult a visa agent or local legal adviser.
- Or go to the General Department of Immigration in Phnom Penh.
- Explain the situation, regularise administratively and pay the global fine.
- Obtain an exit document before leaving.
Risks of a long overstay
- Possible entry ban (1–5 years depending on the length and circumstances).
- Temporary passport confiscation during regularisation.
