ATM (Automated Teller Machine)

Automated Teller Machine. Widely deployed in Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, sparser in the provinces.

In Cambodia, ATMs dispense USD or KHR:

  • USD denominations: typically 50 or 100 USD, never 1, 2 or 5 USD (NBC policy of withdrawing small bills since 2020).
  • KHR denominations: 10,000, 20,000 or 50,000 KHR.

Typical fees:

  • Same-bank card (ABA → ABA ATM): free.
  • Card from another KH bank: 4-6 USD per withdrawal.
  • Foreign card (non-KH Visa / Mastercard): 5-10 USD on the KH side
    • any fees from your home bank.

Densest networks: ABA Bank, ACLEDA Bank, Canadia Bank, J Trust Royal Bank. ATMs accept Visa, Mastercard, Cirrus, Plus and the JCB network at some banks.
