Cambodia’s national instant payment system, launched in 2020 by the National Bank of Cambodia (NBC). Bakong connects every major Cambodian bank and e-wallet (ABA, ACLEDA, Canadia, Wing, TrueMoney, etc.): inter-bank transfers settle in under 5 seconds, with no fee between domestic accounts.
KHQR is Cambodia’s QR code standard deployed on the Bakong rail since July 2022. A single merchant QR code accepts payments from all participating banks (≈ 37 institutions, more than 230,000 merchants in 2025). The system is interconnected with Alipay+, and accepts payments from South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and Thailand.
