Vehicle insurance · Phnom Penh
Forte Insurance (Cambodia) Plc. has been the dominant general insurer in Cambodia since 2000. A subsidiary of the Forte group (itself partly owned by the Malaysian Yu Yu conglomerate) and widely present through bank distribution networks, Forte covers the entire non-life market: vehicle (motor, motorbike, fleet), home, travel, group and individual health, personal accident, third-party liability, marine, freight, construction and engineering, as well as products dedicated to SMEs and large accounts (cyber, professional indemnity). Its financial strength is regularly rated by AM Best ("B+ Good"), making it one of the few Cambodian companies to publish at this rating level. For expats, Forte is often the choice imposed by residential landlords and local employers for vehicle insurance (without which GDLT registration cannot be finalised) and for group health contracts. The agent and bancassurance network (notably ABA, Acleda, Canadia, Sathapana, Prince Bank) allows quick subscription in branch or online, but documentation remains mainly in English and Khmer. Claims are filed by phone 24/7 or via the local branch; vehicle settlement times are generally between 7 and 21 days depending on case complexity.

Advantages & drawbacks
Advantages
- Widest distribution network — ABA, Acleda, Canadia, Sathapana, Prince Bank bancassurance — subscription in branch nationwide.
- AM Best "B+" rating — Financial strength independently verified every year.
- Approved by the GDLT — Vehicle cover recognised to finalise registration.
- 24/7 English-speaking claims service — +855 23 885 066 hotline active day and night.
Drawbacks
- Limited French-language documentation — Policy terms in English / Khmer only, no official French version.
- Limited health caps vs. international players — Suited to local care, but Bangkok/Singapore evacuation often under-dimensioned.
- Variable settlement times — 7–21 days for a simple motor file, longer in case of third-party dispute.
