To subscribe to a fibre internet plan:

• Have a Cambodia address (home with fibre arrival point, or eligibility for installation).
• Present passport + visa (or Khmer ID for locals).
• For a professional subscription: add the patent certificate or company MoC extract.
• Often: security deposit (1 month upfront + equivalent deposit).

Coverage varies: fibre available in virtually all of Phnom Penh and major cities, partial in peri-urban areas, absent in remote zones (then LTE / 4G fixed via Smart Home, Metfone Wireless).

Standard commitment: 6 to 12 months. Without commitment, price +20 to +30% typical. Move during commitment: transfer often free with the same carrier, to request in advance.

How to subscribe

1. Online (recommended)

All carriers have request forms on their site:

Procedure:

1. Enter address, chosen plan, identity.
2. The carrier checks fibre eligibility at your address (within 24-48h).
3. Confirmation and installation booking.
4. Installation and activation by a technician (1-3h on site).

2. In branch

Ezecom offices (Norodom Boulevard), SINET (BKK1), Metfone (Mao Tse Tung Boulevard and Aeon Mall) — useful for business procedures / dedicated lines.

3. Via your landlord or syndic

In modern condos and buildings, the landlord or syndic often has a pre-installed carrier: Ezecom in Olympia / Vattanac, Metfone in Sen Sok complexes, SINET in pro offices. Ask before lease signing.

Required documents

• Passport + long-stay visa (EB / ER) or entry stamp for a short subscription (rare).
• Signed lease or property attestation.
• KH phone number (for OTP and activation).
• Valid email.
• Deposit / 1st month upfront paid (cash, KHQR or bank transfer).

Tip — fibre + 4G as backup

Many expats / freelancers combine:

• Main fibre (SINET or Ezecom) for stability.
• Secondary 4G (Smart or Metfone SIM in tethering) for fibre outages.

Outages are rare in PP but happen in rainy season (storms, transformer failure). A portable battery + 4G router type TP-Link M7350 guarantees continuity.

Which plan for remote work Zoom + Slack + dev?

SINET Fiber Plus (15 Mbps dedicated, 70 USD/month) or Ezecom Premium (100 Mbps shared, 60-80 USD/month) comfortably cover. If several people work in simultaneous videoconference, go up to 35 Mbps dedicated (SINET Fiber Pro).

And for Netflix / family streaming?

Metfone 100 Mbps (40-60 USD/month) is largely enough for 4 users in simultaneous HD streaming. Latency unimportant for VoD.

Is Cambodian IPTV included in plans?

Not by default. Metfone iTV offers a bundle of about 100 local and international channels for 5-10 USD/month extra. For FR channels (TF1, France 2, Canal+), go through a VPN + Molotov / Pluzz / Salto FR.

How to cancel?

Written request or in branch, 1 month notice. Return the router and pay the commitment balance. Keep the return receipt — it may be requested to release the deposit.

Is public Wi-Fi reliable?

In Phnom Penh, many cafés, restaurants, hotels offer free Wi-Fi (Brown Coffee, Tom N Toms, Costa, etc.). Typical speeds 10-30 Mbps, enough for mail / web. For sensitive video calls, prefer your 4G tethering or go home.

Is there residential 5G?
