  • Very well-stocked local markets for fresh produce (rice, vegetables, fruit, meat, fish) at very low prices.
  • No Aeon or Lucky Mall-type supermarket — Battambang relies on its traditional markets and small grocery shops.
  • Very limited imported products: restock in Phnom Penh or Siem Reap for European goods.

Markets

Phsar Nath (Nath market)

Battambang’s central market, housed in a 1930s colonial building in the heart of the town centre. Vegetables, fruit, meat, fish, spices, rice. Open from 6am to 6pm.

Morning market

Around Phsar Nath, from 5am. Ideal for local breakfast and the freshest produce of the day (vegetables harvested overnight, fish delivered early).

Provincial market (outskirts)

A few neighbourhood markets in residential areas — more local, less touristy, even lower prices.

Grocery shops and minimarkets

Several local grocery shops are spread throughout the town centre for daily needs (water, tinned goods, hygiene products). No modern chain like Lucky.
